Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU) in Toruń has more than 18,000 students, over 1,000 of them international. Its English offer is small but cheap, and it recruits in three rounds, the first one closing as early as May.

Applying

Register in IRK and pay the non-refundable PLN 85 fee. Indian applicants need a recognition statement from NAWA, an apostille on originals and a sworn translation if a document is not in English. Tuition can be split into up to four instalments a year on request; for the visa, NCU recommends paying at least one semester first.

B2 minimum: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72 or PTE Academic 59. Some programmes set a higher level.

Our view

Toruń is a small, safe and inexpensive medieval town, and NCU's English Studies and physics programmes are among the cheapest in Poland. Business programmes cost about twice as much and have better alternatives in bigger cities.

What are NCU Toruń fees for Indian students?

For 2026/27, English Studies costs PLN 3,000 a semester, Physics and Astronomy PLN 5,000, International Politics and Diplomacy PLN 5,600, and the business programmes PLN 7,800 a semester.

When does NCU accept applications?

For 2026/27 there were three rounds: 15 April–3 May, 1–28 June and 20–24 July 2026, each with exams a few days later. There is no February intake.

Is medicine at NCU taught in Toruń?

No. NCU's medical faculty, Collegium Medicum, is in Bydgoszcz and has its own admissions. See our Collegium Medicum page.

Does NCU refund fees if the visa is refused?

NCU does not publish a visa-refusal refund rule. It says the fee is not fully refunded once you have taken the student oath, so ask in writing before you pay.

How much do NCU dorms cost?

PLN 480–1,150 a month depending on the building and campus, mostly in double rooms.
