Proof of funds, calculated

The regulation of 6 February 2018 on foreign students' financial means sets the amounts. For one year with a dorm place at PLN 800 a month:

  • Living money: 12 × PLN 1,010 = PLN 12,120.
  • Accommodation: 12 × PLN 800 = PLN 9,600.
  • Return journey from India: PLN 2,500.
  • Total: PLN 24,220, about ₹5.9 lakh.

€1 = ₹106.27, 1 PLN = ₹24.18 (European Central Bank reference rates (EUR/INR 106.272, EUR/PLN 4.3945), 23 October 2026)

The residence permit in Poland

A study visa is valid for up to a year. To stay longer, you apply for a temporary residence permit for studies at the voivodeship office of your region:

  • Since 27 April 2026, applications are accepted only online through the new MOS portal; paper forms are not processed.
  • Your university first fills in and e-signs Annex 5 of the application.
  • Fees: PLN 340 stamp duty and PLN 50 for the residence card.
  • First permit: usually 15 months, or the length of the course plus three months, up to three years for later permits.
  • Apply no later than the last day of your legal stay; you then stay legally until the decision.
