MBBS in Poland for Indian Students: Fees in INR, NMC Rules and FMGE Results

Twelve Polish universities on our list teach a six-year MD in English that leads to an EU medical degree. First-year tuition ranges from about ₹15 lakh to ₹20 lakh a year in euros, and from PLN 63,000 to 71,000 at the schools that charge in zloty. That makes Poland one of the most expensive routes for an Indian MBBS abroad, but much cheaper than Western Europe, with real clinical training in public hospitals.

Why Indian students consider Poland for medicine

  • An EU degree in English. The six-year Polish MD is the same degree Polish students receive, taught in English in separate English Divisions.
  • Public universities. All twelve are public universities with their own teaching hospitals.
  • Admission without NEET cut-offs. Selection is by the university's own exam, an interview or school marks, not your NEET rank.
  • A growing FMGE record. Graduates of Polish schools passed 9 of 15 FMGE attempts in December 2025.

The drawbacks are just as real: high fees, a demanding course and the need to learn Polish for clinical years and for a licence in Poland.

The NMC question in one paragraph

The NMC's 2021 regulations ask for at least 54 months of study in English, a 12-month internship at the same foreign institution, and eligibility for a licence to practise in the country of study. Polish MDs meet the first two in length and language. The licence condition is harder: in Poland it needs the LEK exam, a postgraduate internship and, for English-track graduates, a Polish-language exam. Ask the university how it documents these, in writing. Full detail on NMC rules for Poland.

Warsaw, Łódź and Gdańsk run one-year preparatory courses in English; Łódź charges €7,400 for 2026/27. Several other schools run short compulsory or optional pre-courses in September. More on premedical courses in Poland.

Five steps to an MD in Poland

  1. Qualify NEET-UG and finish Class 12 with physics, chemistry and biology.
  2. Choose two or three universities with different exam dates and take an English test (IELTS 5.5 at most schools, 6.5 at Poznań).
  3. Apply to NAWA for recognition of your Class 12 certificate and get the apostille.
  4. Sit the university exams or interviews, mostly online, between March and September.
  5. Pay the first instalment, then apply for the D-type study visa through VFS.

Tuition alone for six years ranges from about €81,500 at Pomeranian Medical University to €112,800 at the Medical University of Warsaw, and PLN 378,000–485,000 at the schools that charge in zloty. With housing and living costs, plan on ₹1.3–2 crore in total.

Is MBBS in Poland valid in India?

A Polish MD can meet the NMC's 2021 rules on duration and language, and graduates have passed FMGE. The open question is the licence in Poland, which requires the LEK exam, a postgraduate internship and Polish-language proof. Read our NMC rules page before you apply.

Is NEET required for MBBS in Poland?

Polish universities do not use NEET for admission; they set their own exams or rank school marks. But the NMC requires you to qualify NEET-UG to practise in India later, so take it in the year you apply.

Which is the best medical university in Poland for Indian students?

There is no single answer. Gdańsk has the most FMGE candidates and a good record; Łódź and Silesia have accessible admission and lower fees; Poznań holds an exam in New Delhi; Warsaw and Kraków are the most prestigious.

Is there a February intake for MBBS in Poland?

Yes, at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. For February 2027, registration runs from 12 October to 30 December 2026.
