Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) has about 1,800 international students from more than 50 countries and charges €1,850–4,000 a year for English programmes. It is one of the few public universities in Poland that runs a tuition waiver contest open only to international applicants.

Fees are set in euros by Ordinance 23/2026 and paid per semester. The first payment for new students is due by 15 October, and later semesters can be paid in three instalments.

How to apply from India

Register in IRK and upload your documents.
Email [email protected] with your name, programme and IRK registration number. Without this step the application is not reviewed.
Pay the application fee: PLN 100 for bachelor's, PLN 85 or 100 for master's, PLN 150 for Graphic Arts.
Apply to NAWA for an individual recognition statement. India is not among the countries whose documents UMCS recognises automatically.
Add the apostille and, if needed, sworn translations.

If you want to compete for the tuition waiver, send the contest documents together with the application.

Refunds

The fee ordinance refunds tuition only for periods you do not attend. UMCS does not publish a separate visa-refusal rule, so ask the international office in writing before paying.

Our view

Lublin is one of the cheapest university cities in Poland, and UMCS fees match that. Applicants with a strong record should try for the waiver contest.

What are UMCS Lublin fees for Indian students?

For 2026/27, English programmes cost €1,850–4,000 a year. The cheapest are the master's in International Relations and Intercultural Communication; the most expensive are Medical Biology and Molecular Biology at €4,000.

What is the UMCS Best Applicant Contest?

It is open only to international applicants and waives tuition for the whole programme. Each English programme has one or two places, awarded on additional documents you submit with the application.

When can I apply to UMCS?

Admissions for 2026/27 opened on 17 April 2026 and stay open until September or until places are filled. Classes start on 1 October; there is no February intake.
