From the job to a residence-and-work permit
Once you have an offer, you apply for a temporary residence and work permit, tied to that employer. Highly qualified jobs above the salary threshold can qualify for the EU Blue Card instead, which allows easier moves within the EU after a period of work.
Where graduates find jobs
- IT and engineering: Kraków, Wrocław, Warsaw, Gdańsk and Poznań, where software houses, Indian IT companies and global engineering firms have large centres.
- Business services: finance, accounting, HR and customer operations centres, especially in Kraków, Warsaw, Łódź and Katowice. Graduates who speak English plus another European language are in demand.
- Logistics and manufacturing: around Poznań, Łódź, Wrocław and Silesia.
Polish helps. Most graduate jobs in multinational centres are in English, but promotion and everyday life are easier with conversational Polish. See learning Polish.

Long-term residence
An EU long-term resident permit requires five years of continuous legal stay, stable income, health insurance and Polish at B1. Half of your study period counts towards the five years. The permit is indefinite and gives free access to the Polish labour market.
Coming back to India
For private-sector jobs, your degree speaks for itself. For government posts, PSU recruitment or a PhD in India, apply to the AIU for an equivalence certificate with your degree, transcript and proof of study in Poland. Doctors follow the NMC route and pass FMGE.
